A Conversation

F.Q. says: look mohammed, what it all boils down to is, can you honestly claim that the situation has improved after militant groups like hamas became more active? has anything positive come to be regarding these military groups? they're not helping the problem at all, and i think they need to stop making shit worse.

reply to the above: True it is not going too well.. but is it really because Hamas took over? and lets remember here that they didn't do it by force initially, they were democratically elected by the people of Palestine.
secondly, this is the only way to bring peace to the region. When will Israel ever stop attacking countries around it? Do you really think that if we decide to stop resisting for our basic rights that Israel will let us as arab states prosper and become great nations? in 1981 Israel bombed Iraqi nuclear facilities even though Iraq back then was an ally of the US in its war against Iran. The Palestinian authority has been negotiating with the Zionists for the past 30 years, from Oslo to camp david to finally placing a siege on Yasser Arafat and poisoning him.. did the Palestinians get anything? no.. is Mohmoud Abbas getting anywhere? no.. he failed to even remove one checkpoint in the west bank let alone solve the bigger problems between the two sides.

That is why Hamas is on the right track. Hizbullah accomplished to free the South of Lebanon by resisting not by meeting and talking with the Israelis. Israel was forced out of Gaza in the 2005 by resistance not by sitting and talking with the Israelis.. The whole concept of resistance is what Arab dictators are trying to fight, if the arab masses start to resist then Arab regimes will fall one after the other.
This is what I dont understand.. we praise those who resisted in order for their people to gain their simplest rights, people like Ghandi, Che Guivera, Fiedel Castro, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, the Vietnamese, the Irish, the French and Russians, we look up to these people study them and buy their biographies, but when a Palestinian decides to resist in any form, when a Lebanese resists they are ridiculed by people like you (no offense) saying they are jeopardizing the entire nation when in reality they are the only ones that have prioritized the interest of their nation above their own well being.

Someone who has sacrificed his life in order for his people and the future generations to live better lives then he/she had should have more respect than what you are showing here, They should be respected because they are the ones who are martyred in the cause of their religion and their nations.

Reading the Comments

I have been reading the comments posted at the end of articles on news websites lately, something I promised myself not to do, but given the circumstances, I have to. Anyways I thought instead of replying to those comments over there I would do it here.

"You shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glass house"

This comment has been posted by many of those who feel that Egypt's actions/inaction has been too harshly criticized by other Arabs especially those from Syria, saying that the Syrians haven't done much either. I would just like to point out that it is Syria who supported Hizbullah during its war against Israel in 2006 when Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia criticized Syria's role and their support of Hizbullah. It is also Syria who supports Hamas; Hamas's political leader Khaled Mishal lives in Damascus. Unlike Egypt which supplies the Zionist entity with oil and gas and has so far cooperated with the Zionist siege on Gaza blocking the Rafah crossing.
However Syria's response has been very weak by just stopping the indirect peace talks with Israel.
What is interesting to note here is that Olmert was in Turkey last week, Turkey being the mediator of the 'indirect' peace talks between the two countries, and what I am 'conspiracy theorizing (?)' is that the Syrians have negotiated over Hamas, weakening Hamas's armed wing, in return moving negotiations forward. A plausible yet far fetched explanation to the inaction of Syria's political leaders. Unlike during 2006 we have not yet seen Walid AlMualim, Syrias foreign minister saying Syria is ready for any war with Israel, and we have not seen Bashar AlAsad going live on TV and calling Arab leaders "Half men" or "men-like leaders" (أنصاف الرجال), even though later on Walid Almualim went on to explain that AlAsad didn't mean the Arab leaders, but other people within Syria and Syrians outside Syria who undermined the concept of resistance.

"What did Hamas really expect?"

A rhetorical question that has been asked by many people who are either supporters of Israel or have no idea what they are talking about. Here I ask another rhetorical question.. What did Israel expect?
It was Israel who decided to siege and starve to death the people of Gaza who were being punished for voting Hamas into power. If you read the article I posted below that should be sufficient as a reply.

Johann Hari: The true story behind this war is not the one Israel is telling

Johann Hari of The Independent explains the unheard stories about the war on Gaza in the west. He sheds light on the situation in Gaza since the Israeli withdrawal in 2005 and covers the events leading up to the current aggression from an objective point of view. The true story behind this war is not the one Israel is telling

Egyptians Protest

Egyptians protest against the Zionist aggression in Gaza, holding Egyptian president Mubarak and his foreign minister Abu Alghait responsible for not being able to stop this aggression when they met Tsibi Livni.

Latest news!! Not only do the Palestinians have to fight off the Zionist aggressors, they are now fighting the Egyptian army. Palestinian armed men clash with the Egyptian army as they try to force a way through the border so that escaping Palestinian civilians can get into Egypt.

While more than 20 children and 10 women have been martyred today by the Zionists.

Rafah Crossing

Just when we thought Egyptian Government has done something good they straight away go off and spoil it. After claiming they have opened up the Rafah border crossing, and after many Palestinian civilians have rushed in order to escape the Zionist aggression on Gaza, the Egyptian army decided not to let anyone cross the border and has used live ammunition in order to force back those innocent Palestinians. So far 2 Palestinians have been killed by the Egyptian Security forces on the border with 10 injuried.

On another story Mahmoud Abbas blames Hamas for what is happening while he sits with Mubarak in Egypt waiting for things to go their way. In a way what is happening today is very reminiscent of what happened in 2006, lets pray it ends in the same way.

Saturday, 27 December 2008

I am sure everyone has heard about the 225 people that have been massacred in the latest Zionist aggression on the Palestinian people. This is just unbelievable, and the anger cannot be described, the anger not from what the Zionists have done, but from the silence of the Arab and Islamic nations towards this massacre and from those betraying governments, especially that of Egypt whose president (the fascist dictator) sold an entire nation, their cause and their future in order to keep his damn seat under his fat butt.

I want here to clear up some idiotic Zionist claims that what has happened today was a response to the "constant rocket attacks" the Zionist entity has been under by Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza, in order to clarify this misleading propaganda we have to look at who has been attacking who for the past year.

January 17: Israel imposes a blockade on Gaza.

February 27-March 3:
More than 120 Palestinians killed in Israeli military's "Hot Winter" operation in Gaza.

March 6: Eight students killed in gun attack on a Jewish institute in west Jerusalem. Hamas claims responsibility.

June 19: A six-month truce negotiated by Egyptian mediators comes into force.

July 25: Five Hamas militants and a young girl killed in a bomb attack on the Gaza Strip.

November 5: Seven Palestinians are killed in an Israeli operation in Gaza, prompting the resumption of rocket attacks on Israel.

November 12: Four Palestinian militants are killed in a clash with Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip.

December 18: The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have escalates their military attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing a Palestinian and destroying houses and other civilian premises

December 19: Ceasefire between Hamas and Israel officially ends.

December 20: Israel targets and kills militant from Al-Aqsa brigade, the armed wing of Fateh.

December 27: Israel launches airstrikes on Gaza killing 205 and injuring around 700 people.

I think this point is clear.

Anyways the time of trying to prove who is right and who is wrong has already passed, if we are not able to act now and end the tyranny of such an entity that has oppressed, massacred, occupied, destroyed and tortured for the past 60 years then we might as well give up on everything and just live our empty lives with no dignity because that is what we really deserve, and to be honest that is what we have already been doing for the past 30 years.

If the Zionist entity believes that it can destroy Hamas (which was democratically elected by the Palestinians) by destroying their headquarters and security infrastructure then that is just utter stupidity. The Zionists tried that in 2006 when they tried to destroy Hizbullah, and what did that result in? A wider support for Hizbullah not only within Lebanon, but across the Arab and Islamic world. I really do think that the Zionists never learn from their mistakes, that you can never destroy or change an idea by force, that idea being Resistance. And if you try then it will just gain more support.

So when Olmert tries to explain to the people in Gaza that the Palestinians in Gaza are not the enemies of Isreal it is Hamas who are the enemies and that they are fighting Hamas who put them (the Palestinians in Gaza) in that position, then you fool its only going to make Palestinians in Gaza support Hamas even further, because believe it or not the Palestinians don't like you very much since you tried to starve them to death.

I pray to God to give our oppressed brothers and sisters in Palestine the strength to go through these tough times, and inshallah, God willing, one day we will ALL be martyrs in the cause of those who have been oppressed. If only we had leaders who were actually afraid of the day they will be questioned about their actions in this life.

Note: Anyone living in the UK demonstrations will be held in London infront of the Isreali Embassy at 2pm and in Manchester opposite the BBC on Oxford Road at 1pm.

The Golan

Last week the Syrian blogging community had this event where everyone was blogging about the occupied Syrian Golan and how we want our occupied lands back from the aggressors (Zionist Israel)who have been unjustly occupying the Golan since 1967. It is indeed very nice to see that people will still stand up for 'our' occupied land and still remember that the Golan is part of Syria with such passion and vehemence that in some cases I just had to stand up and applaud those emotionally disturbing posts with a tear in my left eye.... hhmmmm.. not really.. (I would just like to point out that I will be using sarcasm in this entry..)

The thing is, I found it to be really ridiculous that someone actually allocated A WEEK to blog about the occupied Golan, which really symbolizes our commitment, as Syrians towards our occupied lands. I believe that one week is more than enough to revive in the minds of Syrians that we actually have occupied territory, and inform those who don't know anything about "our struggle" to free the Golan that the Golan is actually part of Syria and we have a right to retrieve our occupied lands. That is one point.

Second point. Since we are so eager to liberate our occupied "Land" that we lost in the 1967 war, and since that "Land" means so much to us, then we should also remember that the Land occupied by Turkey known today as Hatay (Liwa'a Al-Iskandaron) is also part of the Syrian Territory before it was given to the Turks in 1939 by the French. Why are we discriminating between the two areas? Given that most people in Syria have not been to the occupied Golan, and have no direct relation to it, why are we so eager to have the Golan back, but not 'Hatay'? If our fight is for the land then both areas should be treated in the same way and we should be blogging about Liwa'a Iskandaron as much as we are for the Golan.

But the reason why we have so much feelings towards the Golan is not because we love that land, I bet that even when we get the Golan back the majority of Syrians will not even go there, but our feelings for the Golan are created from the anger and abhorrence towards the occupiers of that land since 1967, and the fact that the indigenous population, the PEOPLE of the Golan are discriminated and treated unfairly and unjustly by those occupiers (or at least that is what I hope we are fighting for, to give justice to those people). As long as we are fighting for land we are no better than the Zionists who are doing exactly that, fighting for land that is not theirs in the first place. I think it is important to point out the difference between fighting to free land and fighting to free people from oppression.

So if you agree with what I said, that we should be fighting to free the oppressed rather than freeing occupied land, then we are in a dilemma. In a post written by Maysaloon (Arabic), and to some extent in Tajreeds' post which happens to be more diplomatic compared to Maysaloons' post, both of which raise this point. If we are fighting for the oppressed then why are we not supporting and fighting with the Palestinians who are also being oppressed by the Zionists? If we are going to remove oppression from the people of the Golan, what about the Palestinians? Don't they also deserve A WEEK from us to blog about the injustice and cruelty they live under?

Gaza has been under siege by the Zionists (and the Egyptian Government) for more than a year and the world is watching (that is including Arab and Muslim states). People in Gaza are dying in Hospitals not because of a lack in doctors and medical care, but because there is no medicine at all, no electricity to power life support equipment, how would you feel if you had to manually pump air into your childs' chest because the breathing support equipment is not working!!? People are starving in Gaza, while we, their brothers supposedly in both islam and for the more nationalistic of you, in being of Arab origin, are sitting here and blogging about how much we miss our occupied Golan!!

I'm just saying, that if we are going to be standing up, Finally, for our people then we should do it properly, we should stand up for the oppressed people in Palestine in the same manner as we are doing for the People in the Golan. We also need to set our priorities straight, people are more important than land.

Bush Under Shoe Assault

An Iraqi journalists throws his shows at Bush during his unannounced visit to Iraq today. The perfect farewell from an Iraqi man to the murder Bush, who has not only been the reason for the death of thousands of Iraqis but also of Americans and Western soldiers in a war that is not meant to bring democracy but only to serve Americas interest in controlling the region and its resources.
Serves him right.. Well done Mr Journalist..

Western Democracy..

Does it really exist? I smile whenever I find something like this:

Canadian PM wins suspension of Parliament

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper won a rare suspension of Parliament on Thursday, managing to avoid being ousted by opposition parties angry over the minority Conservative government's economic plans and an attempt to cut off party financing.

Governor General Michaelle Jean -- the representative of Queen Elizabeth, Canada's head of state -- agreed to Harper's request to shut down Parliament until Jan 26. Parliament was reconvened just weeks ago after the October 14 election.

From what I have been told a Governor General is a person appointed by the Queen of Britain to become head of state of the different commonwealth countries. There are 53 members of the commonwealth of which 16 have this Governor General who can shut down parliament and do other things that the Queen does not agree with.

Aljazeera Mag: Somalia: Another CIA-backed coup blows up

Washington's allies in the TFG promised to pass oil laws that would allow foreign oil companies to return to Somalia.

By Mike Whitney

"The Ethiopian invasion, which was sanctioned by the U.S. government, has destroyed virtually all the life-sustaining economic systems which the population has built for the last fifteen years." - Abdi Samatar, professor of Global Studies at the University of Minnesota.

Up until a month ago, no one in the Bush administration showed the least bit of interest in the incidents of piracy off the coast of Somalia. Now that's all changed and there's talk of sending in the Navy to patrol the waters off the Horn of Africa and clean up the pirates hideouts. Why the sudden about-face? Could it have something to do with the fact that the Ethiopian army is planning to withdrawal all of its troops from Mogadishu by the end of the year, thus, ending the failed two year US-backed occupation of Somalia?

The United States has lost the ground war in Somalia, but that doesn't mean its geopolitical objectives have changed one iota. The U.S. intends to stay in the region for years to come and use its naval power to control the critical shipping lanes from the Gulf of Aden. The growing strength of the Somali national resistance is a set-back, but it doesn't change the basic game-plan. The pirates are actually a blessing in disguise. They provide an excuse for the administration to beef up it's military presence and put down roots. Every crisis is an opportunity.

There's an interesting subtext to the pirate story that hasn't appeared in the western media. According to Simon Assaf of the Socialist Worker:.. continue reading..

The Prophet (pbuh)

"We have not sent you (O Muhammad) but as a universal (Messenger) to men giving them glad tidings and warning them (against sin) but most men understand not." (Quran: 34/28)

"Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much." (Quran: 33/21)

Will we follow Allah's (swt) best guidance in the Quran on how to live this life, and the best of examples from the prophets (pbuh) life?
Or will we follow our desires in this world, and then hope that we don't regret it later on..?

Hajj - Eid Al Adha

First of all Eid Mubarak to all muslims. Secondly I would just like to remind Muslims of the prophets last sermon on Mount Arafat, his last advice to Muslims:

After praising, and thanking Allah The Prophet (pbuh) said:

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed reckon your deeds. ALLAH has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn 'Abd'al Muttalib (Prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived...

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

O People, listen to me in earnest, worship ALLAH, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember, one day you will appear before ALLAH and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, NO PROPHET OR APOSTLE WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QURAN and my example, the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O ALLAH, that I have conveyed your message to your people".

War of Lebanon- Michel Aoun

War of Lebanon is a documentary about 13 hours long. In the beginning of this section a member of the Lebanese Forces militia, I forgot his name, recalls how Hafez Al Assad, Late president of Syria described Michel Aoun as a 'Patriotic man' a more literal translation would be a 'man for the nation', as the interviewee puts it this is the highest form of compliment anyone would expect to receive from Hafez Al Assad.
The turning point which ignited the fight between Aoun and the Syrian forces was when he said that 'Assads Head should be broken' in other words he was saying that he was going to teach Hafez Al Assad a lesson as he wanted the Syrian Army out of Lebanon. After that Aoun was exiled from Lebanon that was in 1989 and only returned in 2005.

Barack Husain Obama

As those who have been following this blog.. all two of you, you would probably know that I considered Obama to be no different than McCain, now that he is the elected president and looking back on some things I'm now more worried than before about the whole Obama thing.

His stance towards many issues seems that they would cause more problems in the world if he did actually did what he said he'd do. Darfur for example, an issue extremely exaggerated by western media, to which Obama states and I quote "We cannot, in good conscience, stand by and let this genocide continue." What is he planning to do to stop this genocide. Is this really about Darfur, or is it only part of a bigger thing?

"The international community has failed to do enough. The United Nations passed a toothless resolution and, in recent debates, China, Russia, Pakistan and Algeria have been reluctant to support any meaningful action. The UN is failing in its mission by allowing politics to get in the way of needed action. American leadership is needed to mobilize European support and force action. On the 10th anniversary of Rwandan atrocities, we must not let history repeat itself." - Obama

What is going to happen with the whole Nato-Russia-missile shield thing when Obama takes over the white house? Medvedev, the Russian president, ordered the deployment of nuclear-capable missiles on Nato's borders for the first time since the Cold War, what is the response of the US under Obama?

Where does Obama stand in relation to China? He earlier said that "China neither enemy nor friend, but a competitor" and accused China of currency manipulation, something the Bush administration didn't do. In regards to Darfur and Sudan, China has been investing a lot in there trying to increase oil production from Sudan to meet its rising demand for oil. How are the Chinese going to react when they see US and European forces in The Sudan?

Why does he insist on staying in Afghanistan but plans to reduce the number of US troops in Iraq and move them to Afghanistan?

What about Pakistan? Obama is for unilateral attacks into Pakistan targeting suspected AlQaeda members, undermining Pakistani Sovereignty by sending military into Pakistan with no prior agreement, something McCain opposed so did the Pakistani prime minister Gilani.

What about the appointment of Emanuel Rahm as chief of staff..?

So many things.. I'm just going to end it here, because I think this is enough. If anything happens in the future be sure that I will be telling everyone "I told you so!!!".. if nothing happens and it turns out that I'm concerned for nothing, then this is going to be embarrassing, but till then.. no one knows..

Egypt and the Gaza Siege

During the Arab league meeting at the foreign ministers level, Waleed Al Muallem, the Syrian Foreign Minister urged Egypt (Although he was generalizing and didn't say Egypt specifically but it's obvious that he meant Egypt since they are the mediators between Hamas and Fateh)to be neutral and not to take any sides. Amazingly enough this comment was faced with a very defensive stance from both the Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abu Elgait, and other official sources in the Egyptian government.

Abu Elgait simply refused those 'allegations' whereas the other official source said AlMuallems comments are 'Non-sense and overbidding' and said that 'those comments should be directed towards Syria instead'.

But this is nothing compared to the following. In response to Waled AlMuallems comment "Arab states have a greater responsibility in stopping Israel from practicing its oppression on the Palestinian people as well as breaking the Siege on Gaza and opening up the crossings into the Gaza Strip" Abu Elgait said "the topic about the crossings into Gaza is governed by the 'Agreement on Crossings (European Union Border Assistance Mission Rafah)' which states that the crossings are to be managed internationally between the EU, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority (Fateh) and that Egypt has no responsibilities in regards to allowing or not allowing Palestinians from going into Gaza through the Rafah crossing."

Here I wonder. If Israel is no longer in Gaza after their 2005 unilateral disengagement plan, and if the Palestinian Authority is no longer in control of Gaza or the crossing, and if the EU monitoring of the Rafah boarder crossing is also not present after they decided that the agreement is void since both Israel and the PA are no longer present in Gaza, who is in control of the Rafah crossing?.. No one except for Egypt, which makes the Egyptian Government Equally Responsible along with Israel for the Suffering of 1.5 million Humans in Gaza.

How Milk is Being Sent To Gaza..??!!

Sustainable Development

Well well well.. uhmm.. its been ages since I last wrote anything here, but here I am back again, I know people missed me and stuff but life is tough, deal with it!

Anyways, sustainability, something I stumbled on I believe it was during April of this year when I first saw the youtube video of the Masdar Initiative in Abu Dhabi which I posted earlier on this blog. Since then my interest only grew and I am currently doing a postgraduate degree in this miracle called sustainability! But I really do think that everyone in the middle east should know something about this, not only is this concept beneficial but it is extremely important as developed countries are taking the concepts of sustainability and applying it to each and every development, every policy and regulations placing sustainable development as the focal point in the future development of those countries.

As a muslim, I find some concepts of sustainable development very familiar to what Islam teaches, sadly enough we have not taken advantage of what we already know.

The definition that is most widely used for sustainable development (SD) is the one given by the Brundtland 'Our Common Future' Report which defines SD as "meeting the needs of the present generation without comprimising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" concentrating on three main aspects which are Environmental, Social and Economical development. I'm not going to go into details with this just wanted this to be an introduction to this wonderful series that I have also stumbled upon; the e2 series, a series which gives different examples from across the world of sustainable design of different developments. I hope everyone watches these videos and tell your friends to watch them too. Enjoy!

Shouting Out Loud

As I found out that a friend of mine has left his apartment, and won't be back for the next two hours, I decided to get myself a shawarma and go to Hyde park and enjoy the sun for the first time this year. When I arrived at Hyde park, with my shawarma sandwich and drink, I noticed a large gathering of people at the speakers corner (this happens every Sunday where random people stand on stools and start ranting about either Islam, Christianity or the Palestinian "Israeli" conflict most of the time. obviously people go and listen to them).
The first speaker I got to was an old English man who was talking about the Palestinian Israeli conflict and his opinions about it. Of course there is the usual suicide bombing, the right of Israel to the Land, how muslims are violent people etc etc, the usual really. At the same time a group of Arabs (amazingly the majority of people in speakers corner were Arab) surrounded the English man and they managed to turn the debate into a comedy show as well as giving really good arguments about every single point the English man on the stool was saying.

I must say the funniest thing I heard was when a African British man shouted, "you arabs are stupid! you lost all those wars and your still fighting, you are idiots!"
To which the main Arab dude who was controlling the show replied,"Shatap you coconut! look at your country Nigeria, Western oil companies are stealing your oil and you are doing nothing, go back to Nigeria, and when you can sort it out then come and talk about Arabs!" (I presume they knew a bit about each other)

I must say though, I'm not the type of person who would stand up and try to make a point in front of many people, I'm not a really public speaker type of person. At least not until that Polish Christian Zionist lady, and later on an African/British man came along. For the first time in my life I managed to shout my head off while making a completely sane and logical argument. (I must also point out that I am a very calm, laid back, taking it easy type of person, so you can only imagine the type of comments those two jokers were making). Later on, the English man left the place where he was standing, I had my own crowd and people were coming from all over the park, then slowly the Polish lady and the other man left leaving me behind with all those people. Only then was I conscious to what happened. I stepped aside, walked away and started eating my Shawarma.

After that I was thinking to myself about the reason a person defends and idea or supports one side over the other. In most cases people decide what or which side of an issue they are on depending on where they were born (i.e. the influence of the culture and traditions of that region) and to what family they were born into (i.e. the religion of the parents and the way they are going to be raised). Which means that most people will support something only because they were told to do so, and not supporting it would lead to that individual being scrutinized and attacked by his/her "own people".

God has given mankind a brain to think with, to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. Is it right that just to prove that you are a patriotic person and that you love your country so much, that you support the invasion of other countries which you at first thought was for a just reason, but then turned out that it was for false reasons based on lies? Is it worth it that people are still dying, because you want to pretend you are so patriotic that you send your own children to fight a war that is endless, a war where the majority of people that are killed are innocent civilians?

To stand for what is right is always harder than to stand for what is wrong. I support the Palestinian cause not because the majority of Palestinians are muslims, or because they consider themselves as Arabs, I support the Palestinian cause because it has the right to be supported, I support the Palestinians because they have a right to live, just like how the "Israelis" are living.

Iraqi Prostitutes - Syria

Apparently the sex industry in Syria is flourishing with the arrival of Iraqi refugee women, whom out of desperation turn to such means to earn an income so that their families back in Iraq can survive. Is this the democracy that Mr. Bush promised the Iraqi people.
This is beyond wrong. This is immoral and irresponsible from the part of the authorities.
I think Iraqi women should have a right to work in Syria, even though there are already 2 million Iraqis in Syria and countries such as Saudi Arabia, that is supposedly a "muslim" country, the number of Iraqi refugees is probably less than 10!..
The Syrian authorities should not allow this to happen, the whole prostitution industry in Syria should be wiped out, along with all the "nightclubs" and prostitution houses.

Arrogance or Ignorance?

One thing I absolutely hate in a person. Arrogance. I can't stand people who are arrogant. Why does a person think that they are better than anyone else? Especially if that person thinks that their money, wealth, fame, power or the way they look gives them the right to think that they are above others. In a way I understand those type of people and its so easy to be arrogant about what you have forgetting that one day they will die and they will be worthless.
What I don't understand are people who like me, are normal, living a normal life, having little or no influence on the lives of other people, who happen to think that just because they were born in a land where you receive a document that states you are a citizen of the USA or Canada or Britain, then that makes them the ultimate humans and that people from different parts of the world who happen to be born in countries that are not so wealthy, and have little opportunities, are less human or "sub-human" or "inferior humans", who have no values and no sanctity for life.

Ironically at the same time when they are classifying people from different races, they also claim that the nation they belong to is fighting for justice, and or fighting to save humanity.

I don't know of those people are arrogant or just ignorant, or is it because of their ignorance that they are arrogant?..

anyways, in chapter 14 verse 13 of the Quran, it says:
Oh mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise each other). Verily the most honored of you in the Sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. In addition, Allah has full Knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)”.

A Hadith of the prophet peace be upon him where he says,"Oh Mankind! Your Lord is One. Your (grand) father is one. All of you belong to Adam (peace be upon him). Adam is created of soil (earth dirt). Truly, the most honorable person in the Sight of Your Lord, the Almighty Allah, is the most pious among you. There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab. There is no superiority for a non-Arab over an Arab. There is no superiority for a red (race) person over a white person. Likewise, there is no superiority of a white over a red (race) person except for the level of piety (mindfulness of God, the Almighty Allah in life and practices)" [Ahmad, Hadith No.411]

Tolerance

Surprisingly enough, it isn't such a big deal to wear a Jewish Kippah and pray to the Wailing Wall, but when you wear an African traditional dress that to ignorant Americans seems to resemble something "Islamic" even though it is not, the person is attacked and mocked and feared.
What is interesting that in recent studies in America show that the most discriminated ethnic groups or minorities in America and in order are African-American, Jews, Latinos and then Arabs/Muslims.

The difference between Obama and McCain...

From an Arab perspective.

From an Arab perspective the difference is nothing. There is no difference between McCain and Obama.
Seven to Eight months ago, Barack Obama was against any military action against Iran and was for dialogue between countries such as Iran, Syria and North Korea, as he mentioned in the Democratic debate. Two days ago when he was in Israel Obama seemed to have changed his mind, where he threatened Iran over its nuclear program with more sanctions saying that the USA will not do anything that will endanger the national security of Israel.
He also said that an air strike against Iran's nuclear facilities will not be enough, and that that should be accompanied by tougher political stance towards Iran, as well as tougher sanctions that will make Iran reconsider its position. He also refused any dialogue with Hamas.

After that Obama went to the Wailing Wall (Kosel), where he preformed a prayer which was lead by a Hakham.

Similarly McCain had similar comments when he arrived in Israel. Saying things such as "If Hamas/Hizbollah succeeds here, they are going to succeed everywhere, not only in the Middle East, but everywhere. Israel isn't the only enemy."

"They are dedicated to the extinction of everything that the US, Israel and the West believe and stand for. So America does have an interest in what happens here, far above and beyond our alliance with the State of Israel."

"At the end of the day, we can still not afford to have Iran with nuclear weapons," he said. "We know they have ambitions that are not just aimed at the State of Israel."

So what is the difference between McCain and Obama in regards to their foreign policy in the Middle East?

Barack Obama has finally understood that the road to the white house passes by Israel and the only way he will have a chance of being the 44th president of the US of A. This way Obama will be able to please the Evangelical Christian voters and expand his base of supporters. Obviously what ever Barack Obama is doing is working as he is leading the opinion polls.

To be honest I don't understand why Americans cannot vote for someone like Ron Paul or Kucinich. Both had much better understanding of what is needed to brighten America's image across the world as well as improving the US economy. But then again we are talking about people who elected Mr. George W. Bush... TWICE!

The fear of an Obama planet

By Mona Eltahawy
As soon as I saw the New Yorker cover spoofing right-wing fear mongering over Barack and Michelle Obama, my first thought was that my friend Sanjay in Mumbai had a point about Americans and stupidity.

What was it but stupidity that left so many Americans gullible...

After reading abufares said... latest blog i came across this:

Israeli Soldier Shoots Palestinian

Pictures of an Israeli soldier shooting a at a Palestinian with a rubber bullet from a distance of about one meter. The Palestinian was handcuffed and blindfolded. Ashraf abu rahmeh, a 27 year old, was detained for protesting against the building of the separation wall in Ramallah on the 7th of July. You can have a look at the pictures here

Israel threatening Lebanese by phone

Israel has violated UN Security Council Resolution 1701 by penetrating Lebanon's telecommunication network, a Lebanese Minister says.

According to Lebanese media, Israel has penetrated Lebanon's telecommunications network and threatened people by sending a recorded voice message, saying, "Do not allow Hezbollah drag you to another war because you will be responded the same as Israel- Lebanon war in July 2006."

If true this is really ridiculous, I doubt that this would have made people who received the call not support Hizbullah anymore, in fact I believe people who have received that call, would probably want to support Hizbullah even more now. What's interesting is the last part... it seems another war is being prepared.

No More Commenting

I have decided to never again reply to a provocative comment that appears on youtube or any other news websites. As a matter of fact I will stop reading comments by other readers altogether, except for comments on the Arabic Aljazeera website, because in most cases they are funny.

Honestly I don't even know why I reply in the first place, but when I read stupid comments I get this feeling that I really should reply, its not that I'm a very intelligent person and that I know everything, no, well maybe I am, who knows. Its a strange feeling, it's like a highly exothermic reaction taking place between the two sides of my lungs, like right under the sternum I think they call that bone, the side effects is the intense thoughts of strangling the person who wrote the comment and a rush of thoughts in my head of how I should reply as well as a lot of cursing. In short, I get angry.

I will give an example, here is a comment written on The Independent website saying, "The Arab mentality contradicts, what the West would regard as logical and ethical, therefore, it is pointless to apply Western reason in dealing with them. Human life hasn`t the same value, perceptions of truth are different and they have a tendency to confuse fact with fiction..."
Posted by Amisraelchai

What a racist bastard!! I wonder what type of research that nit did to reach this conclusion!! I wonder who made the "West" the optimum standard for the "logical and ethical" mentality anyways.
The problem with such comments they are so stupid that you cannot argue or reply with a well constructed intellectual comment. Its just like when someone swears at you, you don't try to analyze what the person said, you don't try to reply with a beautifully put together smashing researched answer... you just swear back at that person.. And its the same thing!

Anyways I have decided to quit commenting and replying for now. Thank you.

A wide spread attack has been going on in Israeli media aimed at the celebrations that took place yesterday as well as the release of Samir Quntar the hero. Israeli media have said it is shameful how the Lebanese celebrated the return of their prisoners of war, and as Olmert (the person responsible for the war in Lebanon in 2006 where more than 1000 Lebanese civilians were killed) puts it "this is the difference between our culture and their culture."
Let me just say that it is not a difference between cultures, it is simply a difference between causes. On one hand the Lebanese/Arab cause is a far more greater one than the Israeli/Zionist one. Those people who were martyred for a just cause of ending occupation, calling for justice, fighting the oppression and aggression created by the Zionists, sacrificing their lives so that their families and their people could have a better one; the martyrdom of those people can only be celebrated, and not cried upon. The Israeli's have lost their cause. To me they didn't have one since '48. What is Israel's cause? To occupy as much land as possible, for as long as possible? To create the "greater Israeli state?"

Moving on. Israeli government has also managed to upload a video onto youtube that talks about the brutality of Samir Quntar and how he supposedly "shot a man from the back and 'broke the skull' of his four year old daughter" although there is controversy whether it was done with a rock or his rifles but. Another great fictional work of the Zionists, something we have become immune to. And anyways how can we believe something like Israel who's whole existence is based on a pack of lies?

The Woman Who Knew Too Much

In an interview on Aljazeera English on the 2nd of November 2007, Benazir Bhutto says Bin Laden has been killed. Two months later she was assassinated. It seems she knew too much and spoke carelessly.

Robert Fisk: 'Europe has a duty to educate the US about Middle East'

Walid Moallem leans forward in the armchair of the Paris Intercontinental Opera. "It's all on the record," he snaps. It usually is. The Syrians can be up- front when you least expect it. Syria's Foreign Minister is one of their top negotiators, a man who knows Israel's diplomats almost as well as they know themselves, who understands all the traps of the Middle East.

Tell me who murdered Rafiq Hariri, I ask him. And Mr Moallem grins bleakly and reaches into his jacket pocket....

The Return

It was such a spectacular event to see the return of 5 heroes to their homeland, especially Samir Quntar who spent more than 30 years in an Israeli prison. The event was amazing overshadowing the great achievement of the Islamic resistance, Hizbullah. For the first time (or actually second) we have witnessed the level of weakness of the current leaders in Israel. I don't want to say the weakness of the entire "state" of Israel, because realistically they still have the strongest army in the region, as well as having a much better economy than most countries in the middle east and north Africa. Nevertheless, this is another success story that history will record for the Islamic resistance group.

It was also nice to see the unity within the Lebanese ranks and leaders(even if it was only ceremonial) but it was good to watch anyways.

This deal has brought more credibility to Hizbullah within Lebanon, and has also raised the bar in regards to the prisoner exchange between Hamas, which has Gilad Shalit and Israel which still has thousands of Palestinian prisoners, including Palestinian political prisoners. What is important to notice is that Israel refuses to release Palestinian prisoners since it says they are a threat to Israel's security, and are terrorists which have been sentenced to life in prison. Samir Quntar, as I heard has been sentenced to five life sentences, which equal to 512 years (thats what Ghasan Bin Gido said). Now considering Israel released Samir Quntar, then Hamas will definitely negotiate at the same level, in other words try to get the ones that are the most difficult to get, also in other words get those whom Israel considers to be a "threat" to them the most (I hope I explained this well). Also the Israeli government will definitely feel the public pressure in order to undergo a similar exchange with Hamas, as more than 70% of the Israeli public believe that a similar deal should be considered with Hamas.

Are we witnessing the slow decline in what is known as Israel? And hopefully a peaceful end to the tyrannical state of Israel, or will Israel "fight to the death"? We will definitely know the end of this story in the coming 30 years. Until then I will be here writing about what I think, knowing that you are enjoying reading what I have to say. But I doubt I will be doing this for the next 30 years, who knows maybe by then I will have my own biased news agency. Anyways till then..

Amazing Statistics

I was amased to find out today that 90% of the population of Bangladesh have memorized the entire Quran.. The majority of which would have completely memorized the Quran at the age of 5! And that most can rewrite it in the original Othmani text.

Now comparing this statistic with that of Middle Eastern/ Arab countries we find that 95% of children at the age of 5 have completely memorized all the characters on "pokemon" while 80% of the population have memorized the 3 seasons of "prison break", 4 seasons of "Lost" and have watched at least 7 reruns of 9 seasons of "Friends" as well as owning at least one vintage "collectors" copy of their all time favourite movie which would most probably be either "God Father" or "Scarface".

Al Asabiya -

in one of the islamic conquests, a fight broke out between one of the muhajerin and one of the ansar, the muhajer (the person belonging to the muhajerin, which are the people who traveled with the prophet from mecca to medina) yelled "oh muhajerin" and the ansari (person belonging to the ansar, the people who promised to support and protect the prophet when he came to medina) yelled "oh ansar", and the factions started fighting.

When the prophet heard of the incident, he got very angry and said, "you are calling by the calls of Jahileyah (days prior to islam, known as days of ignorance/jahilyeh) when I am amongst you? Leave what you are doing, it is rotten!

The prophet (pbuh) described 'Asabiyah' (nationalism/tribalism - or the act of supporting a group of people based nationalistic or triblistic relation or ties blindly and with excitement/anger) as being rotten.

The condition of the islamic nation today, from hate of one another to the fights between each other, and between muslim nations are all acts that would have saddened the prophet (pbuh). The spread of Asabiyeh in the Islamic nation is like the spreading of fire, it spreads hate and evil and injustice.
The fall of the Islamic nation and culture is due to asabiyeh, and the prophet was correct when he described it as rotten and evil/bad, and on the negative influence it has on the rise of the (Islamic) nation.

If you have Asabiyeh to your nation/country, or if you are proud of what you are then know that you are copying the acts of Iblees (devil). Iblees was the first creations of God to be proud of what he was. When God almighty ordered him to bow to Adam, what did Iblees say?.. He said 'I am better than him (Adam), you God (almighty)have created me from fire, and have created him (Adam) of mud/clay. What Iblees did was wrong.. who told Iblees that fire is better than mud?
And on that basis, regretfully, some people follow the act of Iblees. Who told you that the Saudi Arabian is better than the Egyptian, or the Sudanese better than the Libyan or the Syrian better than the Lebanese? Who told you anyways that the Arabs are better than the non-Arabs?

The prophet (pbuh) said, " An Arab is only better than a non arab, ONLY by piety and devoutness to God". People are compared by piety and not nationality or who a person is.
The Prophet was right again to forbid us from asabiyeh as it is an imitation of the Iblees.

On the day of Judgment, the ones who will be more favoured or the scale on Judgment day is piety/devoutness to God. Which means the person standing next to you on that day will be the person that had the same level of piety and not the person with the same nationality as yours, in other words you will find the Bengali, Pakistani, or Indian, whom sadly are despised by some people, are on the highest levels because of their piety and devoutness to God.

I am not saying that one should not like/love his country, on the contrary one must like his country/ or country that he/she lives in and also to love his home nation, this is desired.
That is why one of the companions asked the prophet: "is it of Asabiyah for a man to like/love his people/tribe. The prophet said: No, but asabiyah is when a man supports his people/tribe even when they are doing evil."
(i.e. To knowingly support your people/tribe just because you belong to them and they are your people, even though their cause might be one of evil doing(

Asabiyeh is not only in matters regarding nationality but also in matters of religion, for example a group of people (shown in the following video) pray in two different directions because they couldn't agree which way the Qibla (direction to Mecca) was.

Honestly I do not find a solution to Asabiyeh (in the Arab nation) except under Islam. Arabs throughout their history have had Asabiyeh in their blood and were never united under what is called Arab or (Arab nationalism). The only time Asabiyah was solved was during the period from the prophet, to the caliphates and the early ages of the Islamic empire. Why?
Because at that time people treated each other on the bases of brotherhood through religion. In other words I would treat you as a brother even though I am of a different nationality.

just to Prove that the error below is rubbish..

Mordechai Kedar in al-Jazeera about Jerusalem & Islam

The intolerance and prejudice of this bigot represents exactly the entire Zionist entity of "Israel".

What a hypocrite. First he says that Jerusalem is only for the Jews and then he says christians and muslims are invited.

I wonder how he would explain how the Jews moved from Spain in the 1600's and later to the Othman controlled Jerusalem.

Unfortunately youtube would not allow me to blog the video, but i managed to find it on liveleak.

The Earthquake

I have been reading recently from news sources that the "Israeli" government are expecting an Earthquake to hit its northern borders, including the south of Lebanon in the coming months. The earthquake is expected to be of a magnitude of six on the Richter Scale which will have an impact upon towns in Israel from Haifa northwards, and is likely to cause destruction of buildings and foundations.

This if true, would probably explain the largest military exercise that was carried out by "Israel" since its unjust establishment. The exercise took place on the 6th of April in the North of "Israel".

On the other side Lebanese geologists have stated that it would be impossible for an earthquake with that magnitude to occur in the coming months and suggested that "Israel" may be planning to detonate a nuclear bomb underground which may cause similar results.

Whether any of this is true or not we can just wait and see what disasters may take place in PALESTINE, of course other than the greatest disaster ever to happen in PALESTINE which is "Israel".

More Sednaya

Syrian opposition leaders (outside Syria) have called for an international investigation into what happened in the Syrian prison.
After an unknown number of detainees have been killed (supposedly 25) in the Sednaya prison in Syria, the opposition (outside Syria) decided that what happened is an international issue and needs to be solved in that manner. Lets not forget who makes up the opposition outside Syria, which includes the Ikhwan, who in their early days terrorized the people of Syria by planting car bombs around the capital Damascus, and Abdulhalem Khadam, who is as bad as any "mas'ul" (any person who has a member of their family in the government or the security services) as he and his sons managed to suck the blood out of Syria and Lebanon as much as any other "mas'ul". So I don't know why we should listen to them.
Anyways what happened in Syria is an internal issue, those prison guards who have been involved in the killing of the detainees should be put on trial, jail conditions have to be improved, and the entire judicial system has to be revised in Syria. As well as training the prison guards to carry out their duties properly. All of those very good suggestions (i must admit that was quite good eh? )can be internally solved, I don't see how the UN can help or the arab league, as if other arab countries have better jail conditions and treat their prisoners in a better way.
So a message to the opposition leaders outside Syria: Shatap!

The New Generation

I was arguing once with my parents about how bad things are, in general, in arab countries and how corrupt governments were.
I was arguing that governments are meant to serve people and that the governments should be afraid of the people and not the people afraid of the government, what is a government after all?
Of course since they were my parents and they knew it all obviously since they are older than me, they defended the actions of the governments and said that "if that wasn't the case there would have been a coup every now and then and that people would be fighting each other all the time that's why we need strong governments that rule with an iron fist". After the argument was done i heard them mumbling "this new generation, so influenced by western ideas".... ??!!?!?!

I think both arguments are right, we just need the right balance between the two. Having Emergency laws for the past 45 years is just ridiculous. After all for people to prosper they need their freedom, and feeling that they are safe and not that the government is safe.

A Word From The Sponsor

Finally the government has decided for once to say something about a sensitive issue. as well all know the Syrian government is very secretive and always likes to pretend that everything is alright.. and "oh look we all love each other" type of thing.

From SANA this is what was said:

Basically its saying that a group of people who have been sentenced to prison for being charged with crimes of "extremism" and terrorism, have attacked other inmates in prison during a prison inspection done by the prison guards.

Since when is having "extreme" ideas illegal? i understand terrorism that's fine.. that's definitely illegal, but extremism? i guess in Syria, (or even the middle east) anything that deviates away from the ideas of the ruling party/people is "extreme".

Bad day in Prison

most people heard about what happened yesterday in the Sydnaya prison in syria. If not, here is what happened.. in short though..

Early in the morning prison guards start a prison search you know like searching the prisoners cells and all. This time it was more provocative than it used to be, which lead to a "word fight" between the prison guards and the "islamists" (apparently being too religious is politically incorrect and can be punished by a jail sentence.. ). It is reported that the prison guards got the Quran and started stepping on it repeatedly infront of the prisoners which infuriated the "islamists", whom in turn ran towards the prison guards that were desecrating the Quran in order to stop the prison guards from doing the unthinkable!
Those that ran were shot and killed, 9 of them that is. But soon the prisoners were able to overtake power in the prison capturing the prison manager and the prison guards. One of the prisoners, the source of all this information got hold of a mobile phone.

After a while the syrian security forces along with a reported 30 tanks and armoured vehicles surrounded the prison. Negotiations between the prisoners and the security forces took place where the prisoners asked the security forces that they would not harm (murder) the prisoners in return the hostages would be freed and everything would go back to normal. Negotiations took place using letters that were sent back and forth between the prisoners and the security forces. A 60 year old prisoner called Samir Al Baher, delivered the messages between the two sides.
The security forces refused to comply with the demands, and told the prisoners to give up the hostages, only then will there be any negotiations, which the prisoners refused to do. The security forces then beat up Samir Al Baher, and took him away in an armoured vehicle.

I have been reading random news about what has happened after wards and claims that the security forces said that they would storm the prison even if that means the death of a thousand prisoners, also news of an air strike (unlikely) and the firing of tear gas and other forms of weapons into the prison (likely).

Human rights groups in syria are calling on Syrian president Bashar Al Assad to intervene and put an end to this, but the government has so far kept a lid on the incident.
Human rights groups have also sent urgent calls and messages to the General Secratery of both the UN and the Arab League to interfere as well as to other human rights groups and organizations worldwide.

This is horrific stuff, shame on the government. This is not the first time the government has failed to do what it's supposed to do this year, with fightings occuring between two sects in Hama early this year.

Stop complaining!

I've been reading some blogs recently, and most of them were from bloggers in Syria and stuff although i try to read other blogs not from Syria, you know try to broaden it up a bit. And to be honest i got really tired and frustrated with all the apathetic, negative and discouraging blogs that I have been reading from Syrian youth. It is true its really hard to do most things a person wants to do in Syria and unless he/she knows someone with a bit of power then that person might not get anywhere but still, that doesn't give anyone the right to give up, sit on the internet and start writing essays about how messed up things are over there. How new graduates are not finding jobs, how people have no money to survive, etc etc..

I thought I'd write something motivational to those who are in that phase and are right now! reading this. if any that is.. but I really can't, i just don't understand how a person can give up on something like this.. after all this is life and you have got to do the most you can with it, sitting around complaining will not do any good.. not now.. not never..

A supervisior told me a couple of years ago (after i was done complaining about how hard things were) , he said, (with great passion and anger) , " Stop Complaining, And Do Something!!" and that really touched my heart.. in a way..

and now i think its my turn to tell those who are complaining.. STOP complaining! and do Something!!..

Comments:
For those who cannot read arabic it is about Mr Husni Mubarak, who has congratulated the Zionist state of Israel on its 60th anniversary of establishment or whatever. This guy is seriously starting to annoy me and for the following reasons:

- His people are dying in Egypt, Inflation has risen, people in Egypt live in graveyards because they don't have any money but hes sending letters to congratulate Israel.

- Israel killed hundreds of thousands of Egyptians, occupied Egypts lands and caused much damage to the Egyptian economy. He shows no respect to those who died for the cause (the cause is the freedom of Palestine), and shows no honour. All hes got to do now is go and kiss Pires feet.

- in the letter he says "to have peace that can be accomplished in the middle east is the best way that will allow the people to live in security and luxury"
LUXURY? what happened to dignity and honour? how can you live in luxury when your dignity is being trampled on? I guess who doesn't matter since he doesn't have any dignity or honour left in him anymore.

- something closely related, the raising of the workers income in Egypt by 30% has also annoyed me. On one hand, this is something good, and much needed, on the other, prices of goods and products have risen by 160% in egypt...For a family that consists of more than 4 members, do you really think that 30% would cover the families needs month in and month out?
